The current LT1 is a great engine. And glad my Camaro is named after it. Brilliant and confusing.
That LT1 must have been beat on before i got it. It leaked at the water pump rear main seal, and front, rear intake and Optic spark. Car felt strong but that was back when i was buying cars every 3 months. So traded it and got a 2005 GTO. That GTO with the LS2 was nice and then went to a 04 C5 that seemed slow vs the GTO. Once i got the 06 C6 i was in love after mods.

I loved my 90's LT1's.

I did have an opti fail on my 9c1, that got changed over to the FAST coil-on-plug system (ala the "new" LS1) since it became (eventually) a drag car. When it was on the street though, that LT1/T56 combo hurt a lot of people's feelings! It was the ultimate sleeper since it was dyno'ing the same hp back then as the GenV LT1 is now.

The imp still has the original opti, but that has been parked for years.

They need to put out a 650 NA motor and they can name it the OI1U engine.
