C7 Trunk space

I must admit that I feel like an imposter as I do love corvettes but do not actually own a stingray; as just the availability, buying and running cost in the United Kingdom makes it difficult to own one, the Camaro is the easier option of the two, but still mega-expensive.

I am travelling to the USA in September and decide my best option, for the present time, is to at least push the adrenaline and have some carefree driving a C7 by hiring one from Hertz.

The problem is that if I hire one at the airport then will my luggage fit in the trunk. I have checked many sites and online pictures, but just want to know from a genuine C7 owner if two suitcases with dimensions of 32"x19"x11" and 26"x17"x9" fit in the trunk ?

thanks, David

So assuming they can fit right next to each other, we're talking a total "joined" volume of 32"x36"x11"...

I believe it should fit just fine. I just went out and measured the "minimum" widths/lengths/heights, and here's what I came up with:

Coupe
Width (between side humps): 42.25"
Length (from front of "hump" behind the seats to the center back: 40.75" approx
Depth (side floor to bottom of rubber strip on drivers side): 11"

The depth is obviously greater toward the center and under the glass, but I wanted to give minimums/worse-case measurements.

It should also be noted you'll probably not be able to stow the roof and the luggage simultaneously.

We fit two roll on bags (I assume that's what you've listed) plus a small duffel bag and beach towels.

Thanks folks for the replies; I've just confirmed with Hertz on my booking about the insurance cover and any excesses and they said what I've been quoted covers it; so no shocks if I do have an unfortunate incident.

I've been to the U.S many times and had the good fortune to hire a mustang (sorry for the foul language) for 9 days, but the chance to drive a corvette will be a dream come true, even if it is only for a few days.

My future wife is going to be shocked when we walk to the rental car park and she see's me going up to the vision of beauty and then tell her to hop in.

I must admit to be envious of you folks over the pond as you have wonderful cars and great open roads to drive them on; well ok maybe with the exception of the Boston and New York areas - no offence - but I'm talking Cali, Nevada, Arizona and Texas.

Imposter, you'll be the real thing (car-wise) for a few days in the yellow coupe. Enjoy the trip. My wife and I put 3,700 miles on our yellow coupe visiting our son in Las Vegas. And half the fun was the Corvette.

You're not an imposter - merely an enthusiast without an opportunity! But, for a few days at least, the opportunity arises! You're still way ahead of all those kids out there who want one and have no means, and no driver's license!

Be sure and update with your impressions of the car when you get back from the trip.

Maybe you can rent one for a few laps at LeMans:

Here's a review / comparison from your side of the pond:
