10,000 Miles, is my clutch really starting to go??

I do a lot of city driving and the other day I took off agressively from a stoplight and noticed that my clutch slipped briefly then grabbed. At the next light the whole cabin was filled with burning clutch smell. Since then I've been really babying my take offs. Today I did a quick burnout and practiced my drag launch to get ready for the upcoming season (on private property), and the same thing happened. Brief slip, then go, then clutch smell. This will be my first season at the strip with this car and it is not normally driven very hard. Can it be that my clutch is already going out on me??

Check your fluid, @ 10,000 miles I hope it has been changed once or twice.
Dirty fluid can cause it to have issues.

The Stock Clutch isn't that heafty of a clutch and doesn't take much to burn one out..
it is possible with spirited driving you'll finish the clutch off soon.

The fluid has never been changed because frankly I've never heard of having to change clutch fluid early than 30,000 miles. 10,000 seems pretty short to me, but I'll be sure to go check it now.

after seperating my brake/clutch fluid, I am changing it at every oil change. It is simple and easy and isn't a bunch of fluid.

I've always heard and recommended every oil change to change clutch fluid.

Add a separate resivoir. With this I change mine often...especially after drag racing. With as many times as i do it I'm sure it has already been flushed out. I probably need to start using DOT4.

It might be too late for your current clutch though. Upgrade to an LS9 clutch next time but they aren't cheap.
