Why would i care about dust and waste time and money putting a cover on that WILL scratch your paint.
Dust isnt going to cause any problems on the car and a simple wash will be much safer than putting on a cover and taking it off no matter how soft you think it is.
I wouldnt use a car cover if it was free and given with a extra $500

Great...! hmmm... I must be doing it wrong... 30+ years of using covers and no scratches... I guess I'll have to try harder, I have to be doing it wrong since you told me I "WILL"

I am sure you have a lower threshold of what a scratch is on the paint

Continue to use what you want. I can care less about your car.
I wont ever use one

Very nice garage. I don't blame you for parking over the winter. I spent three winters at West Point (civilian), two winters in Rochester and two winters in NYC. It seemed like every year someone was saying 'it's colder than it's ever been' or 'record snowfall'.

He piped up on the what is the best cover thread.. He's obviously never owned a cover and goes by what he reads on the interweb... He's never been to an ISCA car show (like Detroit Autorama) with Ridler award contenders. $100,000+ paint jobs on multi-million dollar builds. The show up covered and most end up covered at night. Yes, I've done the Detroit show years ago. Plenty of car covers in the background.....

Perhaps another garage is in order for those activities.

I get my car professionally detailed, change the fluids, add Stabil, take the battery out and put it on a tender in my basement. (That is because my storage unit doesn't have electricity). Put the cover over it, close the door, and come get it next spring.

He uses a feather duster.....OMG I laughed so hard. I am sure he has an arenal of California Dusters lined up. It should be required to join a detail paige when buying a nice car. Last car show I went to made me throw up a little.

Max air in tires as shown on side of tire to prevent flat spots, clean, transport mode if car has ( few of mine do ) full of fresh fuel and cover, parking brake off. Once a winter i will trickle charge battery and again in spring before starting. Once a year will take wheels off to clean inside barrels good, and mounting surfaces then torque lugs to prevent corrosion and sticky wheel/hubs.

Everyone has their own way of doing things this has worked for me fine. I wash my covers in the spring and dry before storing in bag for summers.
