1LE Spoiler help

Hello new to the forum here. I removed my factory trunk/spoiler to install a carbon fiber trunk/duckbill only to be left over with this epoxy. Any ideas on how to remove it?

Welcome to the forum.

You are likely going to need heat (blow dryer or heat gun) and some adhesive remover, like Goo Gone or 3M to get it off. I'd start with heat and see if you can peel it off. If you use a heat gun be careful not to get it too hot or you could damage the paint.

i didnt think it would work but you need to get one of those eraser wheels.

I’ll give it a try, but this seems to be like almost like a resin, it’s not sticky to the touch it’s very hard and has no play when I try prying on it. I took it two a couple body shops and they said they need to grind it down and re spray the whole rear quarter panels if I wanted it done right only problem is the whole car has paint protection film and it’s brand new too. I rather not go that route.

yes i know. I cut it down as low as I could with a razor without touching paint and used the eraser wheel after, nothing else would remove it. Goo gone, tar remover..nothing

those body shops are either idiots or just want to get you to pay some money. use the eraser wheel and just do little at a time let it cool and keep going. I didnt do any damage to my paint

Gotcha! Is there a specific eraser wheel brand/product you’d recommend? Thanks for your help!

I had one of my winglets FALL OFF going down the highway and then removed the other side and I never encountered what you're showing there but the winglets are dealer installed and someone could have mega glued yours as opposed to not doing a great job with mine. If they put some kind of expoxy cement you're body shop is probably the only option.

No that sealant on his car is what is supposed to be used when the winglets are installed.
It will come off with the eraser wheel. Took me about 20mins per side going slow and making sure nothing bad happened. Body shop isnt needed at all.

just go slow and dont heat up the paint to much. when you get it down to close to the paint. do like 30sec and then let it cool a bit and do it again till its all gone

You may be able to use some hot water to help soften the glue.

If it's an epoxy, it will still be hard, so the eraser wheel is a good option. Just take your time and be patient, it will be worth it not to scar the paint.
