Crap luck!

So I just placed my order for a new Camaro. Was sitting on some pretty good equity in my 2020 Scatpack Widebody. Well…….today on my way to pick up my son from school a vehicle turned into my Scatpack. Car doesn’t have tons of damage but enough that it’s definitely not totaled and once repaired will now have an accident CARFAX. And as a result that lovely equity I had in the car will take a hit. Plus who knows how long it will take to repair and if insurance will have to fight the other insurance company to prove who’s at fault. Frustrated and wondering if I should now cancel my order until all this is settled.

You should be able to be compensated for the diminished value of your car. Make sure you fight with the insurance company of the at-fault driver to get this.

I was under the impression that insurance had to pay the current value of your car if totaled.

If not totaled, thats why you get gap insurance and go for diminished value.

Shit happens.

You may take a little hit if it shows up on the Carfax, but you only live once.

I would keep the order in.

Car is leased which takes me out of being able to get diminished value. What I can buy car for and what it’s worth was about $15k. So unfortunately I’ll have to eat some of that loss. Bought car pre-Covid and cars value has skyrocketed since then.

Ugh, I am very sorry this happened.
I would definitely keep the Camaro order while you work through everything else.
