I'm not sure why anyone would constantly keep their hand on the shifter anyway.

For me it was for 3-4 shifts I would rest my arm flat against the console with my hand prepared to grab the shifter by the bottom to pull it back into 4th. The center console doesn't like having an arm rest on it because unlike the Mustang team, GM didn't hire an ergonomics expert to build a car for you to live in. They built a racecar and glued some headlights on (nothing wrong with this).

It definitely does. And without impacting access to the mode, traction control or e-brake switches.

It's a bad habit because it can cause premature wear on tranny parts.

...if you are on a road track your hand is there over 50% of the time.

This is also where I've accidentally changed modes once or twice which can really screw you up on the track.

I was going to say "You're crazy. How is it that you are spending 50% of your time on track literally shifting gears? We have long gears and it takes a little while to climb toward red line, so no reason to have your hand hovering over the shift lever."

Then I realized you're driving a ZL1, so everything happens faster.

...I really have no idea how much my hand is there but much more than on the street and have definitely hit the PTM button which sucks because then you have to focus on getting back in the right mode again.

My problem is more with riding the clutch.
