Well I guess I'm still on the waiting list. The gun was picked up so I'm back where I was. LOL.

Agree. I haven't stepped foot in one of their stores in years.

I'm amazed this guy's still alive.

Our son's high school started a trap league this year.
He used our old 12ga Maverick (which actually is a pretty decent gun for the price) for the first couple weeks and did well. But when I went to put a full choke in it, the threads in the barrel were toast. I could have purchased a new barrel for it, but as far as my wife knows, we couldn't find one and had to purchase a new Franchi O/U.

THE absolute BEST book I have ever found on trapshooting.... "Trapshooting is a Game of Opposites" by Dick Bennett. Originally published by Shotgun Sports magazine. I heartily recommend it. It covers stance, fit, swing, WHERE to look for the birds, etc. It really helped me many years ago when I got back into it again.

ISBN 0-925012-05-X

The Youth trap kids from my old Club won big a few years back at the Vandalia Shoot....THE big National shoot of the year.

Just donated a mess of wads , powder and hulls to the kids. My shoulders have reached the point that occasional recoil is fine, but 75 or a hundred birds in a day and I'm hurting. So my trap days are over.

Why I like skeet.....I can shoot 28 ga or .410 and feel zero recoil.

Michigan's state tournament is in a couple weeks, along with the National Championship this year is being held July 12-15 just S of Lansing MI. (only about an hour S of us. )

Yes, it's great to see the students getting involved in the sport. The sportsmanship, respect and safety they exhibit is something you don't see much lately.

Snagged an older, circa 1997 SIG P-239 yesterday at a small, local gun show. Gun, four factory mags, in .357 sig, with an aftermarket .40 S&W conversion barrel. $450 so a pretty decent deal.

Several other notable handguns at the show , but those at crazy prices. I have a decent array of handguns, so everything on my "Buy" list now is rarer or downright RARE. With prices all in the $1000+ range. So a three figure gun under five is a real change.

Still a lot of folks trying to sell AR's/AR mags for Obama era prices too. Clueless.

Got the X-Carry not to long ago and only have about 50 rounds through it. Will eventually be my EDC.

Had one of the old Colt Sporter AR's in 7.62x39. Back when x39 was dirt cheap. Now that it's no longer cheap, I can't see any use for it. Unless a guy hunts pigs or whatever. Basically very close to old .30-30 ballistics. Albeit lighter slugs ,but seems to work the same on game.

Magazines were the issue, until i found some AK/AR Frankenmags; steel AK body fitted and welded to an AR mag upper. THOSE worked.

Yet I have an LWRC upper in 5.45x39 and regular AR mags work well for those up to maybe a dozen rds. I do have some dedicated mags, forgot who built them and they work fine with 28 rds.

Impulse bought a Ruger American Rifle. 30-06, 22 inch barrel. $189, which from what I can tell is a steal.

Anything I should know about these things? Or this caliber? Never owned a bolt gun or a 30-06 before.
