the easiest way to avoid abuse of your car is NOT to drop it off. Either make time so you can be there while the work is being done or try to schedule it for a saturday when you can be there.

After completing my Whipple install my tuner installed a Valet tune in my EFI Live tuner box. Only take a few seconds doesn't let the car go over 20mph or rev over 3000rpm.

Just go to somewhere you trust.

I know when THR takes the car, they have Miles In: and Miles Out:.

What does tracking the mileage have to do with getting your car beat. They could do burn outs or donuts in the parking that would be very hard on the car and not show but tenths of a mile on the odometer.

What you don't know won't hurt you. LOL

If your that worried about be there while the work is being done. That's what I try to do.

Fill up with 87 octane before drop off. It will run like a pig. Nobody will want to drive it.

Trust in the shop has always been , and will always be the key.

I have a 20 year relationship with my non dealer mechanic.

Lucky I guess.

I know it may sound stupid and childish , if all else fails , take it to the shop with a baby spare tire installed.

Poster may still be waiting for an answer... or, maybe he figured out how to limit it, and he's still on his way to the shop.

I once observed the highly skilled service technicians at Wal-Mart doing burnouts in an old lady's (I saw her drop it off) Grand National, do some killer sideways e-brake slides, and play a little giggly game of bumper cars in the parking lot. Hey, they were GENTLE with the bumper car game, so I guess it's all okay... you know, boys will be boys. Good times...

Whenever I drop my car off anywhere for service, I stop at home Depot first, fill the trunk, back seat, and passenger footwell with sacks of Portland Cement. Really bogs things down, makes it less fun to drive, and unless there's a two mile runway for take-off, speed is limited to 15 MPH.

You might as well slash your own tires before you drop off your car.

No need to slash 'em... they rub so hard against the wheelwells that the tires can just barely even turn.... like a perpetual, portable skid.
