Customizable VIN for $5K?!?!??!

Is anyone going to select this option? I had originally thought of choosing it, to select my wife's birthday, but at a cost of $5,000 absolutely going to pass.

Just curious as to why you would pay for this feature.

I believe the option is aimed at collectors. Say one has a '74 dark green Stingray and is adding a '14 dark green Stingray to the corral, having both vehicles end with the same six digits would be icing on the cake, so to speak.

And, you pay the five grand with no guarantee you will get the VIN requested. No money back if you do not.

Would I order it? No. But I am not a collector.

This has been an option for the last few model years.

Thanks Laborsmith. I figured that there had to be something to the process. I didn't know about the non-guarantee either.

If you owned one or more from each generation and had a favorite amongst those owned and money was no object, would you consider checking that box?

Remember, we are talking collectors, who value uniquesness above and beyond any other value. And, who can reasonably expect the factory will accommodate this request.

Personally, I can not imagine I would ever check that box but I also like the idea of having that choice.

I would never pay for that. A VIN is just a VIN.
