Need guidance... I want to go pretty fast

Warranty is just about up on my 1LT, and it's time to take that 118 MPH limiter off. I'm assuming it just needs a little software adjustment for the governor to be disabled (yes, I know, I have speed- rated tires, I won't exceed the speed limit on public roads, and I am no stranger to fast). Is this something I can go to a shop for... just ask 'em to disable my guv? Do I need to take it to a specialized shop, a Camaro shop, a tuner shop, a dealer, or will any ol' garage be able to do this for me? Or do I need to purchase a chip? Do I need to purchase other hardware to reprogram the thing?

Thanks
