Oil message on dash

So started my 2011 SS and the message can up low oil need to fill I checked and the oil level was good on the oil stick any help would be greatly appreciated.

maybe you need a new one of these. check the wiring too.

Ok thank you i was thinking life a oil pressure sending switch but i will try this and see if it fixes it. Thanks for your help.

I had no idea these cars even had a Low Oil notification/light

Me either until I found this level/temp sensor in my pan. I've never seen a light , but I think it shows up on the DIC.

You said the display said "Low oil need to fill" , that doesnt sound like a pressure warning to me. They would tell you to shut the car off immediately if I remember right.

Even my 02 Silverado has an oil level sensor on the side of the pan. Pretty common on LS.

A while back I had only put in like 4 quarts of oil in my car to start it and flush it, on the display it said low oil but didn't say shut the engine off.

It doesn't say it when oil level is low, only when there's no oil pressure. Different sensor.
