I really want the RS package but not the tire package. Thanks

rotating on modern performance tires is overrated. the summer tires thing could be a problem if you get snow.

They could be cross rotated right? Right to left but not front to back....unless the tread is directional.

Hmmmmm.........

The SS1 starting price is a couple grand more than I expected. Which is a bit of a downer, but doesn't kill me. It just alters my plans a bit.

So, instead of going out to order it pronto, I will wait till I can negotiate one down to invoice. It may be a year, but so be it.

I'm not blaming Scott, but ever since the beginning of time he has been preaching that if you build a Mustang GT on Ford.com, you will get a very close approximate price of what the SS will be at. So, I was expecting to start at around 28k (I don't expect to be exact dollar for dollar) for an SS1 and with my RS package, moonroof, and hurst shifter be at around 31k...... not START at 31k.

Slight alteration of plans. But nonetheless, I will still get one. It's just gonna have to wait.

Hmmm...the 2LT is ringing up at about $1200 more than what I was expecting it would, and my expectations were about $1000 beyond what I really wanted to pay. I'm already going to have to wait a bit due to some other committments, and this is going to push it back another 6 months for me at least. It might be the middle of calendar year 2010 before I'd be ready to get what I want.

It was a slam dunk choice before, but very faint voices of second thoughts are starting to creep in a bit. Faint...not an OMG I'M NOT BUYING THIS but more like, hmmm...maybe I will check some other cars out before I make up my mind...

I wonder if the LS3 is going to get the gas guzzler tax? The gas guzzler tax starts for any car that gets 22.5mpg or below. Chevy has said that the auto will get 23mpg...thus saving the gas guzzler tax. But that includes AFM...what about the manual??????

Good question. Car for car though, I've never seen an automatic that got better fuel mileage than a stick, even with AFM. However, I will give you this- I've never seen a 6-speed auto either in a car like this...

Interesting... But I would think that if the M6 was going to get a gas guzzler tax, we'd have heard about it by now.

I just went looking around at those tires (P Zeros) and boy are they pricey. That'll keep me from burning up too fast for sure. Looks like about $450 per tire at Tire Rack. OUCH!

Not really much point in cross roating as I see it. I was hoping they had left the RS package with the LT2 with the all season 19" tires. I am thinking with the snow here and ice, I will have to buy 20" winter tires and that can't be cheap!!!
Not sure how many even make a 20" winter tire.

I'd think the manual would get better fuel economy than the auto, as that's almost always the case. I could count on one hand the times I've seen an auto with better economy than a manual. And if I remember right, I think fbodfather may have said something about no gas-guzzler tax...

I think you are correct. This was the biggest road block for this project. The Manual LS3 will have 23 MPG HW. This was posted before. The LS3 will get the 23 MPG. L99 with AFM will get 26 MPG. This was the point of making the LS3 and ditching the LS2.

Correct me if I wrong because I'm hazy on the subject.
