NPP Exhaust questio??

When I bought my new 2019 2SS, I had the dealer install the NPP exhaust on the car. Later, when I figured out I had no control from the my link radio unit and I didn’t heard the flaps open or close like I did on previous 5th gen, I was told there is no GM support for the NPP control if its dealer installed versus factory installed. I feel duped. Can anyone shed a light on this and is there a way to change it to work as intended from the factory? And, is this a problem to worry about? Thanks!

NPP has to be ordered from the factory. It can't be dealer instead. I mean they can install the muffler but you won't be able to control the flaps.

What is your dealer saying on this topic? If they install the NPP of course they have to make software changes, otherweise the flaps will have no function at all

Sounds like a dealer scam.

Give the dealer 30 days to make it right which would include either a) making it function like a factory NPP, or b) buying back the car if NPP was a condition of sale (written on the bill of sale), or c) returning it to factory stock w/o NPP and reimbursing your $ if NPP wasn't a condition of sale. A certified letter will tell them you're serious and they won't get away with BSing you into accepting their scam.

If they don't fix it in 30 days, then file a formal written complaint with GM for the dealer that is scamming it's customers. And post back here of course so we know which dealer to avoid.

Also might not hurt to contact GM in advance to see if GM will warrant the non-factory/dealer-installed mod at any dealer, or if you'll be stuck with the original dealer forever for warranty work.

Did your car come from the factory with dual exhaust tips on each side or just the one? Also curious as to how the dealer installed the NPP system with no software update or not connecting the actutators.

My guess is they had no idea it didn't work when they agreed to install it. They should know better, but obviously not. A lot of guys do the fuse pull to keep them open all the time, not sure but you might be happy with them configured this way.

To all how commented thanks. Rayhawk, your absolutely correct. I don’t mind the sound. They should have told me before hand and I wasn’t smart enough to ask. There is no support at dealer leave to install GM’s own NPP product. Flap are non function and remain open. Sounds good though. I don’t think it’ll heart the engine or robs power. But I don’t know for sure though

What kind off NPP did they install? a whole new unit starting from the pipe or just an NPP muffler? now in order to install a new NPP in general there needs to be a harness to my believe to control the flaps through the infotainment if your dealer installed an NPP that should be attached and I don't believe your non NPP car has that that harness access if this is the case then your dealer is obviously stupid or the service people are dumb because they don't refer to the service manual.

The price, I was told, including rear trim part for quad pipes, was $2600. I paid $1000 as part of my deal. With regard to the npp system, I was told after the fact. There is no harness available for the 2019’s with the Bose radio which mine has. I assume the npp system includes all associated components from the cats to the back per my reaserch after the fact.

Just run power to the actuators and a switch. Stealth and Tour the valves are closed and Sport and Track the valves are open.

This is insane. The dealer screwed you by creating an option that did not exist and took your money for it. They owe you that money back.

This is hilarious! It’s terrible what the dealer is doing here, it’s truly robbery. I wouldn’t be surprised in the least bit that they didn’t know what they were getting into until they ordered the parts and later realized the car has none of the electronic gizmos to make it work. At the very least they should have been transparent with you and given you the option to keep the nonfunctional NPP or revert back to the standard exhaust. To not inform you is complete dishonest. I do wonder if the techs informed anyone, where the ball was dropped, and whether this was truly a mistake or something more.
