GM Apps

I was watching one of the infotainment videos that Chevrolet sent me titled "Take control of your Stingray Technology." In that video, it shows a GM Apps Icon, as well as a Weather Icon. I dont' know why they made a video showing them, if they are not available. Does anyone know if they will be added with an update? Thanks!

The weather icon is part of the factory navigation system from what I can determine. The GM Apps icon is likely on a prototype system running the upcoming 2015 4G LTE infotainment system. Its supposed to have an online "store" similar to Apple and Android. There's early photos of the still camo-covered Stingray showing a boost gage, hi ting at the supercharged Z06, so it wouldn't be a surprise if the video hinted at future infotainment upgrades. As for update capabilities for us '14 owners, I doubt it will happen. While technically possible, it might involve so much effort to install new hardware and software as to make it economically unfeasable.

Thanks purpleRac3r, that is kind of what I thought the answer would be. I didn't get Nav as I never use it, but if I had thought about the weather app, I may have gotten it. I can use my cellphone and the RadarScope app, but it would have been nice to have had it built in.

There's a current traffic app that's part of the Nav too. It and the weather would've been nice but like you I never use the navigation. I have a hand-held unit I can use in my '74 Stingray or the '14.

Give it a few months after the '15s come out; perhaps an upgrade will be worked out by the aftermarket.
