Best performance shops for tune and header install michigan

I'm getting headers in about 2 weeks. Does anyone have any recommendations where I should go to get them installed and a tune? I live in Michigan. I got a quote from vector motorsports and they want $750 to install the headers and $750 for the tune. Would I be better off getting a tune from someone like Jannety Racing or Dyno Steve. My mods are going to be headers, high flow cats, exhaust and cold air intake.

Of those I’d two pick Jannety unless you can find a shop that won’t rip ya off on the install. 750 is what I paid to have my clutch changed lol

Yea I feel $750 is too much for a 2 to 3 hour job. That's $250 to $375 a hour!!!!

That's too much for the install by about double. It's an easy job.

you don’t need a performance shop to put on headers, it’s as basic as basic can be. do it yourself and get a tune from janetty.
if u don’t want to do the header install yourself take it to a decent exhaust shop and save yourself a lot of cash.

Give Walsh Motorsport in Wixom a call. They do both installs and tuning. They have done a twin turbo setup on my friends Camaro and tune / pulley on his V. Also did some suspension work on my Camaro while I had it. Was very happy with them.

Obviously got other work done at Livernois and have been very happy with them too.

I dont want to do it myself because I don't want to mess up and damage the engine.

So I called livernois motorsports and they are saying if I want them to do it they have to install a lower temperature thermostat and new spark plugs and wires. That doesn't sound right to me. This is the only place I've heard this from.

Just do it yourself or with a buddy. it’s really easy. It sucks, but it’s easy. The only time I paid for headers install was for my C6Z. Never again, unless I’m feeling lazy

Most run a colder plug after doing mods. The wires they might be quoting you because if they are old the may be brittle and break on removal. Colder tstat isn't required but also is a good idea.

I thought they were just trying to sell me something. Before I do anything I research it extensively. And I seen or heard no where that you needed a colder thermostat and new plugs and wires to do headers. But that does make sense about the wires. Now my header install is going to take longer because now I have to start my research on colder thermostats and wires.

I've dealt with Livernois quite a bit, they've always steered me in the right direction. When was the last time you changed your plugs? Are they due for a change?

Also, are the wires they mentioned spark plug wires or O2 sensor wires? Not sure what the laws are in Michigan, but some LTs need O2 sensor extensions if you want to keep them after the cats.

I went to Vector for a cam job and was not impressed at all. A year later my rocker arm bearing exploded because they didn't bother upgrading them.

Livernois is supposed the bees knees, but when i spoke to them about having work done it was very dismissive and extremely over priced. Also they lock their tunes which I don't love.

After I did my LSA conversion i took the car to Lidio at Alternative Auto Performance in Chesterfield for the tune. They are mainly a ford / dodge shop, but he knows his stuff.

That being said.....if it was me......I'd save more money and drop it off at a shop for a cam as well. If you're gonna pay $600 for a tune might as well make it worth while. Headers and an intake aren't going to net you a lot of power.

TLR.....don't trust vector......Livernois is for the rich people........
