Never heard of it until now. Googled some pics. If it's unsafe, I can understand the law.

Hopefully the supposed visibility challenged Camaro won't suffer the same fate...lol

Die-hards could probably go to an air-ride set-up...Nothing permanent, use "as needed"...lol

Not my cup of tea, for sure....But hey, different strokes for different folks.

If I were governor I would ban it just because it looks stupid.

About time. First time in a while Roy has gotten something right. When I first moved here and saw that I thought some dude was just overloaded. There's a black Tahoe rolling around here on pink 28s and some stupid saying airbrushed on the back. They look like a dog scratching it's azz on the floor when they go by.

I can't stand any lifted truck where the front appears to be even a smidge higher than the rear...so that said. This is really dumb....using my nice language.

I hate the squat personally, but the basis although likely preexisting could be used against us in the future for any modification those in power do not like.

If mods make the car unsafe, by all means ban them. I'm not a fan of modding my cars anyway so no skin off my nose - but my take on it is: when your "personal freedom" endangers my "health and safety", then you shouldn't be doing it.

And you've got to love the attempted petition to keep it legal:
"People made a petition to get sqautted trucks illegal cause they don’t like it or think it looks dumb but us Carolina boys made this petition to keep it legal cause we like it and if it a tooted up we don’t want it."

Does anyone need a 650HP ZL1 that goes 0-60 in 3.5 seconds? Is it safe to take a 3,900 lb car to 60 that quick? Can you show in court why the car is dangerous? See where i'm going with this?

Yes, I do see where you going - and technically, no you don't need that - but I'm not trying to get in a debate over it here. The only point I was trying to make is that if it comes from the factory that way, it has gone through design and engineering sessions and been properly tested. Reputable companies producing mods will also have properly tested things.

But not all companies performing mods are reputable. And extreme modifications like the squat that radically change basic characteristics like weight distribution and obviously make it hard to see the road should be disallowed because it's inherently unsafe on the roads that other people are using. I'd bet that a lot of them are done in someone's back yard while drinking beer and using parts in a way they were never designed/tested for.

I'm always reminded of a radio ad in "Grand Theft Auto IV" for Brucie's Executive Lifestyle Autos that says "I'm talking about taking a $250,000 sports car designed by world class engineers and letting a guy from East Hook modify it so it's worth a lot less."

Or if you take your standard SS and supercharge it are the brakes strong enough to stop it or should you go bigger, like 6 piston.

Just one more ding to the mod crew. That said I think the squat looks silly. I do remember the old guy crew in the 60s doing it to cars though... then the 80s came jacking the back of cars up.

Exactly what I was thinking. Just because something is not of interest to you does not mean it should be banned. They do this but where's the focus on people using their phones while driving and tailgaters that ride a car length behind you? And what about the screens Dodge puts in their vehicles that require you to look away from the road to make a simple climate change? Those definitely are safety issues.

These people are taking their vehicles and jacking up the front end, so the trajectory of said vehicle appears to be on a 45 degree angle. If you believe that it is safe and intelligent to eliminate ~50-60% of the driver's forward sight because he/she can't see over the hood, then more power to you.

These folks could save a lot of time and money by just buying a welding hood and wearing it every time they get behind the wheel. Trust me, without a heliarc stinger lit up in your hand, you can't see a thing.
