True that. I was just wondering about the very very early builds.

I predict qc hold will last as long as it takes to fill about 150 truck car haulers. Should not take too long as the line will get up to speed fairly quickly.

If it turns out like the Camaro did it would fall maybe 3 to 4 weeks. Remember the battery cable issue with the Camaro dropping down hitting the exhaust manifold. That held up almost the first 1000 built. Mine was like vin 1200'ish and I received it before some with low 100 vins. Im hoping for end of sept first of October delivery. Got to get past this 3000 point though to get there.

It feels strange reading merged threads when I have posted in both of them!

I put a deposit on a convertible May 10. I got my order number on Aug 9th when they got the order in. My conv is their 1st one to order. They have an allocation of a total of 66. Who knows when they will start making convertibles.

So when did you guys get an order number or some sort of reference from your dealer? It's only been a week and all he's said is my credit check passed and that my order is in. Should I wait or harass him lol. What would I be asking for anyway?

An order number is generated as soon as the order is entered into the system. Many dealers do all that at one time once a week while some will do them every day. An order can be entered into the order workbench and an order number generated while you are sitting at the salespersons desk.

Many people ordering Corvettes will place a deposit to hold their place in line long before the order can be entered; in which case there will be a delay in the number being generated. In every other case the number can be generated on the spot, if the dealer is willing to make the effort.

My practice: if the system is accepting orders the dealer gets the deposit when I get the order number. Don't know if that is reasonable, but it works for me.

At this point, maybe someone should go knock on BG's front door and ask what's going on because we have 4-5 different SORP dates.

Officially, we have no start od production dates. Given at least two Stingrays were at 3800 yesterday and a story that Rick Hendrick was at the plant, I deduce regular production started on August 19. So much for my August 5 prediction!
