A Z/28 would win on a drag and destroy an M3/M4 on the track IMO.
However, the M would be a much nicer DD. |

You won't find very many posters of BMW's on teenage boy bedroom walls.

The bottom line is that i left chevy for a M3. I loved the outgoing high revving V8 engine. even though its not even that fast of a car.
these new M cars suck, they sound like shit. no cares how fast they are. You guys should see how much hate people have for this car on the M forums. cant wait to get back with chevy with a Z06. |

With the Z/28 you get a beautiful naturally aspirated v8 compared to this trash. I dont care how fast a car is, if it sounds like this whats the point? |

For reference I have also owned 2 E46 M3's, 2 b5 S4's (nicely modded), the aforementioned 135i (nicely modded), and 5 Camaros (83' Z28, 90' IROC 1LE, 94' SS, 01' SS and current SS). All said, give me a strong V8 any day... Just my 2c... carry on... |

This is what i want in a car.
-looks great -sounds great -performs great my budget is anything sub 100k. I can get a car that will hit all those points. IMO if a car doesn't sound good, its lacking a important trait for a overall great car. I would expect V8 muscle cars guys to understand this. Just like all those built STIs out there with like 700HP. At the end of the day they are 4 cylinders cars that many 16 year old kids drive. I get cars that are driven by men, and sound like it also. |

So how about this then. I heard a Solstice GXP years ago that had mechanical valves on the intake that gave it a V8 sound. Not pumped in via the radio (which I have many discussions with my GM car guy buddies around "GENUINENESS"....LOL if that is even a word).
But yes mechanical valving that made the car sound just like a V8. For me it's still FAKE!!\ But I'm a purest. Don't misunderstand me, I'm not saying V8 or die (even though that's part of the reason I have a Chevy SS now instead of the Audi S4). I have no problems listening to any engine developed for performance, 4, 6, 8 and yes even 10 or 12. A Viper does sound worse for having 2 extra cylinders. I'm just saying faking under the hood is akin to faking it in the sack....................just sayin'

heres a modded stock exhaust F80 M Remember though the E46 and the E92 are high revving N/A engines with individual throttle bodies.they will sound better. heres a E92 with a exhuast setup Doesn't matter what exhaust is on these cars. Its a 3.0L twin trubo engine. fundamentally its not made to sound good. Even guys on the M forums agree on this! |
