I searched for a few months, found one on ebay late last year, was ready to pull the trigger, then it went away. I was waiting for the PayPal 24 month/0% offer. The seller was asking $2000. I ended up just doing a TrueTrac on my OE 1LE rear. New diff bearings, axle seals, everything worked out. I did the Z cooler kit too.

That's the other route I was looking at. What did that end up running you.

Look at LKQonline.com or find and call your local Keystone distributor and have them do a inventory search of LKQ's database. LKQ's online search website sucks.
When talking the keystone dealer, you need the specifics to narrow down their inventory. Also, don't mention what the website pricing is if you find it, I find the website advertised prices is about $100 more than what they local Keystone rep shows. And, if the carrier is within their territory, you can have it shipped to the local store for free.
I just got a 3.27 differential out of a 32K mile SS carrier shipped to me for $600.

Why are you looking for a z28 diff? If you are looking because of adding power, you want to look for a zl1 diff.

I got the TrueTrac from rdpstore.com, Black Friday discount, $538 shipped. Plus Eaton had (may still have) a $50 rebate. # 912A686
New AC Delco bearings from amazon $28 #92230402
New GM ring gear bolts, ebay, $14 #11610549
New GM axle seals, $17 #92230580
New axle nuts, ebay, $12 #11611234
New axle blue washers, ebay, $9 #11611965

Z/28 cooler kit, shopchevyparts.com, $582 shipped (sign up to their email list, receive a 5% off coupon) # 23216684

Fortunately, I did not have to adjust the shims, pattern and backlash were good.

Yep it has the cooler cover and when you look inside through axle port you can see it's different from a standard diff. Guy had a Z tranny too he bought a wrecked Z28 for the engine.
