Oil cloud
Just a quick question. Today I decided to play around in the car. I took off insecond and hit the rev limiter on accident and noticed a cloud of smoke that smelled like oil come from the exhaust. I went a little farther and pulled over, I could smell oil from the engine area but it quickly went away. Not seeing any leaks of any sort, but what I did notice was a little oil from around my oil breather. So I am curious if I should be worried, or if the oil pressure got high and forced the oil out from the breather. I hope I explained that well enough.

Take the oil breather cap off and put your hand over the opening. If you feel positive pressure....bad news. If not, you're probably ok. If you do feel pressure with each lope of the motor, you probably popped a ringland.

Cover the oil fill port with your hand while the car is idling. You should not feel any pressure on your hand. If anything you should feel a slight vacuum. If its bad you can even see little puffs of smoke with each lope of the motor.
Thats what mine did when i blew the #5 piston ringlands. Big cloud of oil smoke while romping on it. This was on my OE motor at 715whp and 11 psi.

took the breather off and covered the port. definitely a good vacuum. Like I said I am just wondering if oil did come out of the breather and drop down on the headers which caused the puff.

Thats good. YOu could have forced a little oil past the rear main seal and onto the exhaust causing the smoke also.

what catch can are you running and does your oil breather have a check valve in it.

Which I know the Rx breather doesnt really have a check valve from what I have read. Well doesnt let pressure out.

When i had the RX monster can and breather i had to remove the check valve from the breather. Too much crankcase pressure under high boost. What boost/HP are you at?
I was at 750whp on my old D1SC setup and had a large puddle of oil under the car on the dyno tune runs....pushing past the rear seal. Pulled out the valve and it was fine. With my current setup i scrapped the POS RX can and run -10 lines off each valve cover to a vented catch can.
