Easier to do when Stellantis is still producing Challengers in numbers that Ford isn't matching with Mustang. If you look at the production numbers, posted higher in this thread, to only be 3000 ahead means Ford is still selling pretty much every Mustang they build, while Stellantis is taking advantage of the lack of other in the segment to "flood" inventory (comparatively) to get their numbers higher.

I really thought the Turbo I-4 would come to the sales numbers rescue. Guess not...lol

In Camaro's defense, I think they went above and beyond offering various engines and options over the years. Basically Camaro offered just about something for everyone and prices were amazing from hi to low. Oh well.

The LT1 I think was just a little too late. A lot more V-8s would have been out there had the LT1 been offered sooner.

I really don’t think it’s an engine performance issue - look at all the V6 and 5.7 Challengers out there. Quite simply, the design and packaging doesn’t resonate with most casual buyers.

2019 was a marketing disaster for Camaro

I'm surprised that the A8 transmission shudder issue wasn't given more of the blame for weak sales.

I think GM botched the PR by dragging that out or ignoring it. I'm guessing it scared away more buyers than some of the other debatable flaws.

You’re absolutely right. I didn't think of that as a main cause leading to 2019. GM failed to properly address the A8 with repeated fixes.

When I sold my 18 M6, the dealer told me I was lucky it wasn’t an A8 because the trade value would have been lower. IIRC …more than $5,000.

I sold my 16 A8 (in 18) because I had no confidence that they have a long term fix.
