Angry Oil change went bad on 2016 SS

Purchased a brand new 2016 Camaro SS two months ago. I took it up to the dealership to get the oil changed for the first time. After driving back home, about 4 miles from the dealership at low speeds I decided to check my oil/dip stick. The dip stick came out completely dry, even after cleaning it several times. At first I thought there was no oil in it at all. When I called the dealership, they sent someone out to add 4 quarts of oil which filled up my car. It is supposed to have a total of 10 quarts of oil at all times, and they only put in 6. Would driving on a low amount of oil do any damage to the motor? I think I heard a knocking sound when the car was in idle this morning after sitting all night, but not 100% sure.
Any comments would be appreciated.
Hopefully the car is okay, but if the dealership has to replace the motor, is it just me or would you just rather have the entire car replaced? Ive had this car for 2 months. It had 0 miles when I got it, now only has 2,500. Who would want an engine replaced in a brand new car?

It didn't have any CEL? or nothing being that low? If it didn't and you drove it gently its possible it didn't damage anything. I would be highly pissed ...

Unless you took it to the track or the dragstrip directly from them, with 6 quarts in it, the engine is fine. You do get a low oil level light on these cars, because I had it when I put in about 4 quarts on the v6 engine and started the car.

Find another dealer, because the high school kid that they use for oil changes, didn't even doublecheck his work. Neither did the shop foreman.

RUN FORREST......

Yeah you're fine, but like I said it violates about three different basic shop procedures and violates dealership operating procedures. Therefore, a seriously dysfunctional place. Find another dealer...

One drop more than needed to prevent a loss of oil pressure and you will not see any damage whatsoever unless the oil overheated. I wouldn't think that too likely in your short drive at low speed. Not what you want to happen but as others said I wouldn't think you have anything to worry about.

I always check my oil immediately after a change. I've never had it come up short but stories like yours predate the internet...
