what happens when they take 10 hp and 10 tq away every year for 5 years. It's gotta start a little at a time so no one notices.

Yes it's a small amount. But "so nobody notices"? Come on, there are 3 pages of comments already on this forum alone. I guess my real question is " Since Ford announced a 10hp reduction in some Mustangs, is that going to generate enough of a Camaro sales increase to change Chevy's future plans." I think the answer is a resounding 'no'! imo

nope, because Chevy will start reducing by 10 hp also, so they can keep up. LOL.

What makes you think this would even happen? "Could" happen doesn't count. GM "could" introduce pink with pastel stripes as a new special edition, but let's face it, that ain't gonna happen. What is the basis for thinking Ford will reduce 10 hp a year or that GM will also start reducing by 10 hp?

I don't think we'll see a gradual change as slight as 5 hp. If the "end" of performance v8s will happen, then it will either stop to a screeching halt or a significant drop will happen, such as a 100 hp or more, as it did in the early '70s.

On the other hand, our v8s today are much more advanced and efficient IMO that they could stay in the market for awhile. None of GM's v8s have been reported as significant polluters, and they are at the moment flourishing in the current vehicle models.
