Rumor Has It
Well rumor has it the SRT8 cars (minus the Jeep) will get a supercharger in 2013. Said supercharger should bump HP to around 580. The supercharger and a new 8 speed tranny, may place the Camaro in a solid third place behind Ford and Mopar.

In horsepower maybe. But I do believe the ZL1 has gone 4-0 against the GT500 in the major automotive magazine comparisons.

Some of the things the reviews like about the ZL1, the SRT cars are good at too (comfort) on the flip side I don''t think they handle well. It is nice to see Mopar respond and join in on the HP wars.

Handling is exactly where the ZL1 excels. All the horsepower in the world means nothing if you can't translate it to the pavement.

yes but it also seems that the gt500 has a solid 10 mph on the zl1 in the 1\4 which is MASSIVE. there are even zl1's out there running 111-113 mph. pitiful!

Maybe....if the Mopars didn't weigh more than a lot of SUVs.

HP and 1/4 mile times are not the only measure of a car. In the 1/4 mile the ZL1 is obviously at a disadvantage but it has been unanimously agreed that the ZL1 is a better all around performance car. Please don't mistake my posts in this thread as being a Chevy fan boy because I am the farthest thing from one. I just appreciate well engineered cars regardless of who makes them and right now GM is doing a much better job than Chrysler and Ford.

Old rumour. And from what I remember, it was supposed to be a option or Mopar accessory -compared to coming that way from the factory as part of a purpose built supercharged engine

As far as the SRT8s weight issues.. well the SRT8 Challenger is running close to the ZL1 in the 1/4 mile with 100 less HP If it has a 100 more HP and a 8 speed tranny well we all know what the outcome would be. I hope Mopar does offer a supercharger that will give Chevy even more reason to bump the HP on my 2014 ZL1 |

Actually the suspensions were redone in 11 and became MUCH better handlers, in 12 they got a 2 mode, then 3 mode bilstien electronic Damper system that makes them handle even better, if the put a supercharger on there I am sure the suspension will be retuned yet again to make it competitive with the GT500 and SRT8, remember the GT500 is basically the champ in everything, even outdoing the ZL1 on most roadcourses.
