200 degrees sounds low to me. My ZL1 and a buddy of mine's ZL1 normally run around 220. That's in an average ambient temperature of around 80 degrees. Temperatures here this past week were pushing 100 degrees. I didn't even consider taxing my car's cooling system in this heat! Over heating an aluminum engine could mean major problems!
This car is not a fragile flower. Its a purpose built high-performance driving machine that was designed to handle whatever climate you put it in. Its not going to overheat or be taxed beyond what GM already rigorously tested it for. 24 hours straight at WOT on a track is far beyond what you will ever throw at this car. Drive it...it wants you to.

But when they did that test, there were no leaves on the trees. It was winter

Then by all means park your car and stare at it because you're scared to death that its going to blow up from overheating.

I did a cruze just 2 weeks ago in above 100 deg. weather and above 100 mph runs and my Z never got over 195 deg. I was watching the temps to compare to one of our club member''s supercharged SS. The only time mine got over 200 was when we stopped for some idiot that would only buy gas from one gas station. So most of us waited in the middle turn lane while he filled up. But as far as driving long distances no problemo. Go out and have some fun when you do.

My son and I put on just over a 1,000 miles in 2 days with no problems. The car is made to drive, and what a pleasure it is! you should have no issues. Good luck and have fun

Thanks guys, I feel a lot better, never owned a supercharged car before. Once we hit Wisconsin , my father in-law is going to join us in his Challenger 392. We are planning on taking Rt 66 from WI to CA

If heat is or was an issue what can you do to combat it on a long trip?
No doubt the LSA S/C manufactures alot of heat. The car goes to operating temperature in record time. In warm to hot weather one will notice a drop in power. In cooler weather less heat will be needed in the passenger compartment because of the heat soak and passenger compartment absorption from the engine compartment. In overtly hot environments like the South or South West it will take some time for the A/C to bring down the interior temps due to the heat buildup in the engine compartment. That is a commonality from S/C engines however.

I think I saw you driving around the outside of the track that morning as well...

On CFest - Is driving a Camaro required to attend?
