Both cars are awesome. How can you go wrong with either? Screw the "I love Ford/I love Chevy" crap. I love all cool cars, especially cool American cars.

The thing is, the GT350R is better than the Z28 in almost every way. The GT350R is faster in both the curves, and a straight line. But the biggest issue with the Z28 is its lack of technology. The GT350R beats the Z28, and it does it with a touchscreen entertainment system, navigation, a backup camera and a nice interior. The Z28 looks cheap on the inside. It looks like something out of 2003. That's always been my issue with the Z28. In order to get to the numbers, they took everything enjoyable out of the car when you weren't racing it. The GT350R is a more complete vehicle - and let's not forget, the GT350R as tested was $10,000 less!

That being said, the Z28's numbers are more impressive in the sense that GM did it with an existing, dated platform and an existing, dated motor. I have no doubt than if GM makes a 6th Gen Z28, it'll embarrass the GT350R. And as long as GM does it with a touchscreen, backup camera, navigation, etc. it'll be a thorough trouncing.

But for now, I'd love to daily drive a GT350R. I'd never daily drive a Z28. The Z28 was never a complete, modern vehicle, and that has been its shortcoming. Maybe I'm shallow, but in 2014 when the Z28 numbers were coming out and everyone was raving about the track numbers, I was staring at the radio, dumbfounded, muttering, "No one is going to buy this car."

And no one did, as evident by the fire sales.

The 1.1 sec track time difference is surprising close considering the age on the camaro and I'm impressed by both cars. Ford's only building 137 for 2015 so more than likely, you ant getting one and if you do it's going way north of MSRP. Ive got a lot of track time in the z28 and it's a blast on tracks like MSRC and COTA here in Texas. I'm looking forward to seeing and driving with the Fords.

I have always liked the Z/28... thought about it a few years ago. Perosnally for me though I glad I went instead with the Z06 and just recently I finally received my 2015 GT350 w/ Track Pack. And I'm already looking at getting a set of lighter wheels w/ Cup 2's. Anyway both cars are a complete bang for the buck package. With the huge discounts on the remaining Z/28's though... what a steal.

We are in the here and now 11/2015 and now Z28 is 55K and GT350 is 65K+ ish (in my area, where I was shopping ) and the unobtainable GT350R is 80k+??. Of course as time moves forward things will change. Is that a steam roller I'm looking at?? ^^

I know what you mean. I have almost pulled the trigger several times on a Z/28. I have not been able to get over the fact the seats aren't power (I am short with long arms). I am very picky about my seating position when I am on the track and the Z/28 just didn't feel "right" for me. I sit in a 1LE with recaros full power and fall in love.

If GM did the Z/28 goodies with the 2SS comforts, I probably would have bought one already.

I have seen them at $51k new and still cant do it

A second (more actually) is a lot of time for a single lap. The track sessions I do are usually 30 minutes. You're talking 12-15 second gap by the end which is huge. Now just imagine an endurance race. Hats off to Ford for answering the Z/28. I just hope Chevy doesn't attempt to answer back with the LT4.

Did you notice that he runs wide on the last turn in the Z. I'm wondering if the 350 can run that time for 30 minutes in 90+ temps?

It's a pretty close match. Props to Ford for upping the game. Odd how the R doesn't put any more power to the ground of the 21 claimed more horsepower. Not like Ford at all.
It doesn't sound very flat plane-ish to my ears, but sounds great all the same.
They need a Z/28 R version like this for Gen 6. The tires are even bigger, I love it. 315's.
It's the same as comparing the Z/28 to the Boss 302 when it first came out. One not being made anymore loses. Great cars though, all around. Everybody wins
