Have you driven either?
Is it the same 4.3L as a years ago? I bet it isn't.

Yes I have. Overlap the charts. I’m not talking about peak numbers.

2014 ecotec3 4.3L 100,000 miles 19.1 mpg lifetime average crew 4x4 with current gas price 2.65vs 2.25 you would need to avg 22.5mpg in the 6.2 to break even. Is that happening?

The reason the Dodge 4.7 is better than the I4 Turbo is torque...and more importantly, having it available at lower RPM.

Any FI engine that needs boost just to maintain speed on the highway isn't going to be useful for anything - towing/hauling or fuel econ empty.

It's a terrible idea, always was, and won't help lower GM's fleet mileage like they hoped it might. Gamble failed.
I'm not arguing that the engine maybe is or isn't a bad idea...just pointing out facts. The 2.7 makes peak torque (so...near its 348tq peak) from 1,500 through 4,000 RPM. so, that said, the old 4.7 is not quite matching the 2.7's torque output at 1,500 rpm. Maybe below that number, the 2.7 has no power, but heck, 1,500 is basically just cruising rpms. So I think the argument that it has less low end torque than a small V8 doesn't hold true (again...unless we are talking about the off idle rpms...but not sure how much that really matters)

Aside from any long term reliability concerns, the issue is not power...just efficiency.

No...at least not the OLD 4.3 from a few truck generations ago. A far cry from that, but this 4.3 has been around since 2014 or so.

My truck's:

2016 4.3L CC 4x4 SB - I can't use lifetime average as it spent time idling that the 6.2 did not. Best 500km (~300 miles) fuel econ without idling = 19.1-19.2mpg - Work truck which was replaced last June with a Traverse.

2017 6.2 Denali CC 4x4 SB - Using same criteria, best 300 miles over the same roads, weather conditions, etc = 23.5mpg

Previous 2014 6.2 Denali CC 4x4 SB (Same criteria) = 21.75mpg - I attribute this to the A6 vs A8, traded this truck for the 2017 @ 60,000 miles.

Edit: Regardless, I spend more time towing and hauling with my 6.2 than my work truck, so I compared empty numbers. I can't even imagine trying to tow 1000lbs with the 4.3, let alone the 9000+ I have on many occasions with my 6.2s.

Good thing that snow bank was the light and fluffy stuff. If it had iced up, could have done some nice damage. Like what my dad did to our 2002 Suburban. Has SUV invincible syndrome and drives through a snow bank created by the plow. Took out the fog lamps....

Have you heard anything more about what this means? "Final Editions"?

Not really. They just appear to be sticker packages, but if I had to guess I'd say GM is starting to wind down exports to Europe. Perhaps in preparation for the C8.

Final Edition means they are the last variants that will be offered off C7. Not just for Europe, globally. The reason they were released in Europe is Corvette likes to present something in Geneva, because that is one of the shows that specializes in exotic luxury and performance. Bugatti, Ferrari, Lamborghini, all tend to make their big launches there. Corvette launched C7 Grand Sport there.

So the new Super Duty was revealed today.

I also didn't know that an updated Tacoma was to be expected at the Chicago show.

Is there any hope for updated 2020 Colorado/Canyon!!?? I think the trucks are competitive as is as far as drivetrain, road manners, and capability, but the interior/exterior could use a freshening in my opinion.

A mini 2019 Sierra could be sweet if done right. Not sure what direction they'd go with the Colorado as it has its own distinct look...but hopefully not in the direction of Silverado.

Luckily the face of the Colorado isn't big enough to be as ugly as the Silverado
