Cool Hello from New Orleans!

My name's Cole and I have a speeding problem.... Oh crap, wrong group! Anyway, I'm 26 years old, originally from upstate South Carolina but moved to New Orleans, Louisiana almost 2 years ago with my fiance. I've always been involved with cars, from racing various minor NASCAR series to restoring classics.

I had been wanting to get a Camaro from this century for some time now and camaro5 has been a priceless tool for my research before pulling the trigger! I finally found the car I wanted and drove home on 01/28/19 in my "new" 2015 2SS 1/LE! It had 18,600 miles on it and has every option except the RS package (bummer because I really like the RS tail lights but no big deal).

I knew I wanted to get a 2014-15 more than any other years because I absolutely love the old Iroc styling ques. I have had 2 Iroc Camaros before this and I think it was awesome that GM paid tribute to them for a couple years. I'm currently finishing up a complete restoration of an 87k original mile 1986 Z28 with T-tops and plan on selling it upon completion if anyone is interested the car is still in my hometown in South Carolina.

But back to the 1/LE... it is my daily driver for my 15 mile commute just outside New Orleans and I plan on doing small mods like intake, longtubes, and a small cam to start. Once I'm in a position to have another daily driver in a couple years, I plan on converting it into the weekend warrior/track car it's begging to be!

I'm glad to finally say that I am a member of the 5th Gen crowd (even if I'm late to the party) and look forward to getting to know some of you. If you're anywhere near New Orleans, hit me up and maybe we can cruise to cars and coffee or catch a track day!

Whoops, forgot to post some pics! As you can see, the car was kept bone stock by the previous owner, not even a cold air intake or window tint! I've got plenty of ideas for it as I get money.
If anyone has an opinion on what my first mod should be, or brand preference, let me know! I was thinking about Texas Speed for longtubes, Vararam's ram air with replacement washer fluid bottle for the cold air intake or just getting an air raid elbow and performance filter but keeping the stock box, but those are definitely up for debate!

Thank you! I'm very proud I've made it to the point where I can afford something that I actually look forward to driving to work in! Cam advice would be great and I'll probably take you up on it when I get some money saved up. I want to be able to hear some lope but I also don't want to lose much streetability since it is my daily driver for the next couple years lol. I was looking at Howard's Cam's version of the GM ASA but other than that I'm really not knowledgeable on Cam's.

Cole, CONGRATS on the ride, and Welcome to our happy little corner of the net, and to Camaro5/6. There is a BIG fridge on the back porch with anything you can think of in it...help yourself...of course only take what you can LEGALLY have. Make yourself at home on one of the big fluffy couches, kick your shoes off, put your feet up on one of the tables, yes we are allowed to do that, mom's, wives', husbands, girlfriends and boyfriends here don't care....and take it easy.

oh...btw....every once in a while a food fight breaks out...so you may not want to wear nice clothes here.

Welcome!!

Thanks man! I think I'll start with some Bulleit Rye on the rocks, then wind down with a good 'ol Bud. And when I'm around cars, I never wear clothes that I don't mind rolling under and turning some wrenches with!

Just saw your post. Welcome to the forum and Welcome to New Orleans. I'm about an hour north of you in Mandeville/ Covington. Be sure to check into the Southcentral section on this forum (and on Camaro5- wish they were combined like some other parts of the forum). I also expect to see you bring that thing out to the track at some point.

Thanks man I'll definitely check in on there as well! If you're interested, a few of my buddies and I are working on starting a car meet similar to Cars and Coffee at the Lakefront park in New Orleans on the first Saturday of every month starting April 6th. And Yes, I definitely plan on making an HPDE day at NOLA Motorports at some point!

Sounds good. Shoot me a PM when you have it set up. There is a cars and coffee group in NO that hosts events at NOLA MSP or the lakefront.
