Leaking DSSV
Just completed break-in and preparing the car for Road Atlanta. Had the car up on the lift doing the 15-50 mobil1 oil change and we notice the RF strut is leaking it appears to be coming from a nut on the very bottom of the shock it has spayed oil on the control arm ,wheel , caliper ect.
Have any other ZL1-1LE owners experienced an issue like this ? I am hoping they can get one to me before Friday for install to make my track day on Saturday . Bummer |

Hoping you get it fixed and make your track visit. Its gonna be close, Dealer probably has to see it and order the part. Interested to see how it all turns out, good luck.

What are the miles at currently and what use has the car done so far? (track, autocross, street only?)

Want to take a picture? Does it look more like a thicker grease coming out of the gold color breather valve? Or a lightweight oil substance from the bottom?
I had an issue with the damper making a knocking noise and leaking. Dealer replaced under warranty.

More like oil coming from the bottom right around the nut at the end of the strut.

Best I could do on my back , you can see the film where the dirt attached itself to the oil on the control arm where I wiped it with my finger . |

Saw dealer today new Multimatic Damper on the way from Michigan overnite will install and align tomorrow. The bad news is it was a damper leaking @ 1300 miles. I hope this is just a fluke but you guys out there with Z-1LE's might want to inspect yours.

What does it mean if there's grease coming from the gold breather?

I've been watching mine closely since Sean had his issue. So far so good.
Regular inspection of my front dampers is definitely part of the maintenance routine now. Repman, please keep us posted on your progress. Thanks for posting.

Are they replacing a set or just one shock?

A small amount of grease from the gold breather is normal according to research found about last gen's DSSV dampers. It became a concern of mine when there was an excessive amount of grease on the damper, brake caliper etc. I also had what appeared to be oil leakage similar to what is pictured above.
The only reason I began to look at the damper more closely was because of the loud "knock" that I had (Posted about it a few months ago). It was the internal damper shifting inside the casing causing the sound and most likely causing the excessive grease I found.

Bringing back an old thread. I’m prepping for a track day and have a lot of grease coming out of the gold mesh breather. So this is nothing to worry about? It sure has made a mess of my hub.
