is the navigation worth $2k?

Hey, I'm planning to order a c7 in a few months. Looking at the 2014 models I had planned to get the navigation system since I hate having a unit suction cupped to my dash and an ugly wire running across a beautiful console. I also was excited to see about ordering the data recorder since I want to track the car on occasion. However with the expected price for the data recorder being 1200-1300 is not worth it to use it 4 times. I'd just not include it but now it's packaged with navigation... *sigh*. So my question is this, to those of you who have the nav system; how is it? Can it compare to my garmen that tells me the speed limit, routes me around traffic jams and shows pictures of what the exit looks like? I expect their plans to sell data recorders by including it with nav is going to backfire and result in no-one buying the nav system instead. So is the nav system worth $2,000?

It's worth $795, which is what is cost to have it added to my 1LT/Z51 when I ordered my Stingray.....

I've had the car for a little of 6 months and only have 1600 miles on it. So I don't really use it a lot, but it is noce IMO......

I ordered the navi and would do it again, 1LT coupe. It's nice to have the screen integrated and the turns show up in the speedo center when needed or you can set it to always display navi info.

I agree that it's absolutely worth 795, unfortunately that's no longer available since its now packaged with the data recorder that most people will never use effectively making it a $2,000 nav unit for anyone who didn't get a 2014.

They should have done an option to split up the 2 components....I guess I'm one of the few that actually wants the data recorder....we'll see if I ever pull the trigger though.

I want it, but I don't want it for $1,200.

The impression I got from Harlan Charles at the Museum Bash in April was that nav would still be available by itself, but that if you wanted the data recorder you had to get the nav with it. They share the same GPS antenna. I suppose we'll know for sure as soon as the pricing comes out.

Ah that makes sense. Everything I read recently suggested they came together, but I was mainly looking info on the data recorder. I hope you're right and I can get nav alone.

Odd thing is that one of the dealers I've been talking with called me on Sunday to tell me they could start placing 2015 orders, but when I asked about pricing on the data recorder he didn't have it. How can they place the order when they don't even have the pricing yet.
