Worse than Water Spots

Was traveling this past weekend and parked my 50th anniversary Camaro outside the hotel. Came out in the morning and it had snowed, two leaves were on the matte stripe on the trunk lid in frozen water. Once melted I removed them and dried off the stripe. This was the result, lost cause I suppose:

It looks like an air bubble. Did you lift the strip when pulling off the two leaves?

No, not bubbled, in fact take two steps to the left and look at from a different angle and it disappears, picture taken right after the other:

Wow. Only thing I can think of is to try cleaning with some iso alcohol or car window cleaner. That sucks but probably isn't that expensive to replace assuming a shop can match the color just right.

I have done testing on all types of detailing chemicals on vinyl stripes. All cleaners such as all purpose, degreaser, detailers, glass cleaners, non-abrasive polish, etc did no damage to vinyl stripes. So you can try some different products to see if it disappears it.

One thing that will mar vinyl stripes is the spray on SiO2 silica sealant that's all the rage these days.

Don't panic. A friend of mine has the same car and after water sat on it and dried there, it left spots. He thought they were permanent stains, started trying to rub them out with wax... until they disappeared all on their own. Let it be!
