Upgrade 1LT Non LED tail lamps to new blackouts

Hi everyone, I am attempting to upgrade my 1LT non LED tails to the new blackout tail lights.

http://www.shopchevyparts.com/electr...-92291067.html

As far as I know if I wanted to upgrade to LED lights I would need the harness/resistor kit from Gen5dyi which is all good. I've contacted 3 sellers of these lights including shopchevyparts that claims I do not need to purchase harnesses/resistors for the black out upgrade for a non-led base model 1LT.

I'm not sure if the new blackout tails which are all LED's are plug and play into the non-led base model without the gen5gdyi harness. Anyone tried this?

I can't speak specifically to this application, however in my prior experiences (ford ranger, and a couple of motorcycles) any time I went from incandescent bulb to LED, resistance had to be added in somewhere for the blinkers. Otherwise they would blink super fast because some part of the system was interpreting the lack of load as a dead bulb. Since this replacement will include blinkers on your car, I'd assume that you would need the resistors, unless they are already integrated into the wiring of the lights.

I know it may not answer your question, but hope it helps...take it for what it's worth...these were not "new technology" vehicles that I was doing this on. The newest model was my '03 motorcycle - a lot of stuff has changed since then

If the resisters are already built into the lights somehow then they will be plug and play. If not you have to step that amperage down. If you don't you will fry the LEDs.

Thanks everyone that's my thought and what I'm worried about.

You do know that on the red non RS car, we added the GM dark lights you need the resisters and if you go to the LED "R" lights you will need one there to.
