The ac compressor clutch has a fuse. Taking out the fuse causes the noise to stop right? When the operator selects defrost, the ac compressor clutch is engaged, but, selecting front vents disengages the ac compressor clutch. I'd ask the mechanics if the original ac compressor clutch was installed on those ac compressors you purchased.

It sounds like a noisy ac compressor clutch. Also, does the noise happen when only ac is selected (max, normal)?
