Tighter Sig Restrictions?

Does anyone else think this forum could use some tighter signature restrictions? Lots of people have really huge sigs that make it very hard to read threads. Right now the limits for images is 200 pixels high (width really isn't an issue). If there is a character limit for text, it's pretty high.

Many forums put limits like so: 50 pixels (image) or two lines of text. I think something like that here would greatly improve this forum. Something like:

• Max 3 lines of text

or

• 50 pixels or less & 1 line of text

or

• 75 pixels or less and no text

This is a camaro forum. We know what a camaro looks like. We really don't need 13 giant pictures of a camaro all up and down every page of a thread. Plus this forum has avatars too, so smaller sigs would be a very good thing.

One more thought. When someone's sig is bigger than most of their posts, that's very annoying.

I think when they made them smaller the first time they choose this size for a reason and for the majority it works out.

I find sigs like yours obnoxiously large. It's a signature, it's not a billboard.

What is your monitor resolution--800x600...?

200px high isn't very large at all. Justin's sig up there is 700x147. Well under 200px high and well within the size average of most banners you'd see on any other website or eblast. I don't think you know what you're asking for, but in any event, get used to it.

I like the sigs because it's easier to me to see who's saying what in multiple threads, but sometimes they can be bulky. Definitely keep the sigs but maybe allow less text or smaller images.

As long as it doesn't make the post's original table size expand, I think its fine. With a moderate size avatar, this allows for about 250px of image with 1 line of text. If you make your image smaller, you have room for some text, too. l008com, your second post makes a prime example. See my attached image. Its resized but the highlighted area is 500px wide by 250px tall. I think most people's signatures are near this or below. There are some people with big signatures, but not too many.

That's a great illustration of how large signatures should be.
