Aftermarket shifter in M6 1LE

Hey guys and girls,

I was wondering if anyone has installed a Hurst or any other brand shifter ( I would like to know some of the other brands available) in their 1LE’s? My boss installed a Ford Motorsports shifter in his 2016 GT350 and it made a big difference. I’m just curious because the factory one isn’t so bad.

there are only a couple options it appears. GM makes one and Hurst, that's all that's available. I'm surprised MGW doesn't offer anything, their shifters are some the highest quality pieces available...

I have the hurst style pistol grip and like it better then the other original stock shifter. Main reason I like it because of the feel in my hand while shifting, honestly can’t notice a performance benefit.

Nice job with the no console look.
Gives the right elbow some room while shifting.
Old school cool

1LE’s already come with the GM performance shirt throw shifter, which is pretty good.

I was considering getting the Tremec shift ball but love the feel of the stock 1LE suede shifter.

You know i had forgotten about that, but i have both a 23 SS1LE and LT1, and there 's no perceptible difference in throw.. at least to me.

Huh, that’s interesting. I have only driven an M6 1LE so I have nothing to compare to.

I was just curious if the Hurst is any shorter than the GM 1LE shifter. I’m going to contact MGW to see if they are coming out with a shifter for a 6th Gen.

Just checked, both about 3" throw from 1st to 2nd. If there is a diff, it's less than a 1/4 "

Maybe the 1LE’s don’t actually have the short throw shifter and we have been duped. Or…the LTs have the same shifter?

it's interesting, so i did a little digging. Best i can come up with is when the Gen6 1LE package came out, for sure it was listed as part of the package. Since then ,or more specifically on 23's it is not mentioned anywhere in the package. Maybe at one point in the last seven years they just made it one shifter for all the V8 cars and called it a day. If you are buying the GM parts "1LE short shifter' for your SS,you may be getting the same shifter that came with your car. They say it's 8.75% shorter throw than a non 1LE spec shifter, but i found no difference with my LT1. YMMV.

The OEM 1le “short throw” shifter only has a 8-10% shorter throw compared to non-1LE cars. So lets call that negligible. The only aftermarket short throw shifter is the Hurst short throw which advertises a 40-45% shorter throw compared to OEM. I have it on my vehicle and I absolutely love it. Its short, notchy and precise. Its a PITA to install having to drop the trans to install it, but I wouldnt have it any other way tbh.

That’s what I was looking for, someone that had the factory 1LE short shifter and changed it out for the Hurst. Can you tell me how much it shortened the throw? I’m considering the pistol grip style or the ball style.
