So gpi has offered to get 2 pistons from Diamond for me I think, I have to pay upfront and I am more than happy to do and that is very understandable. Kevin Martin is saying about 3 weeks., Diamond said 4 weeks.

So they are not willing to open a box that they have on the shelf and send me 2 pistons, then get the pistons replaced by Diamond. So I will have to wait somewhere from 3 weeks to 5 weeks i guess. Then they would I guess let me send the 2 pistons I have back to diamond to see about warrantee for the pistons.

So that's their choice to make me wait vs open a box they have on the shelf in stock ,sit that box to the side while they wait for the 2 replacement pistons. So that is what it is. To me and my way of thinking I would try to make my customer happy as best as I could by siting the 1 kit to the side so the customer can get going, Not to mention the customer (me) had to take the motor all apart again to replace 2 pistons that have stuck oil rings.

Also as a side note I put Texas speed Wesco pistons in the car like last spring using the stock rods because had an crack in the ring land on stock piston. No drop in kits at all were available at the time so Wesco piston made for stock rods. and had absolutely no problems and was making about 780 wheel at the end before it either broke a rod or pulled a wrist pin out of the Wesco piston. for about 20000 plus miles.

Either way im not complaining to Texas speed or anyone about that. Thats part of making power. This is about 2 oil rings on new pistons that were cut 1 thousands too small. U can't even hardly see that. A piece of notebook paper is 4. So thats what Im not happy about, that they make me wait when seems to me their inconvenience of waiting would not be something that they would really feel. I guess they might miss a sale if they sell out before they get the ones from Dimond, There may be some other reason that I dont know? But it is what it is.

I was running a .635/.635 TSP cam. I didn't really drop a valve, the exhaust valve head basically melted off of the stem. I was at Road Atlanta on the last session of the day, the damn car was screaming, I was hitting 158 on the back straight. To put it into perspective, stock ZLE 's usually run low to mid 150's and they typically carry more speed thru turn 7 than me. A full day of sustained high speed running melted my cats, restricting flow and increasing the egt to the point that the stock valves couldn't take it anymore. When I pulled the valve covers, I didn't immediately see any problems. The stem had bent enough that the retainers and keepers were still in place

Yes it it, but as you stated somewhere above, "That's part of making power"

Ordered GPI drop in piston/rods with lower compression last week. Should I order different pistons rings?

IMO no that’s not needed.
