Oil Life Monitor

I have a question for all the Camaro owners on here, my 22 Camaro’s oil life monitor is at 10%, shouldn’t have the change oil life message appeared yet? I think I once read it should display the message at 10% oil life. I was wondering if someone has encountered a similar thing?

I do not know, never went below 30%, rarely 40% actually on the Camaro...

My other GM usually triggers around 5%, and only once did I ever see that light! I never let it go that low.

I changed my oil when the light came on, and I sent a sample to Blackstone Labs (paid for the TBN as well). They said that my oil was fine (TBN was 6), I had about a year, and 4,500 miles + three track days), and that I could leave it for another few thousand miles.

I typically change when it's in the single digits. I always get the warning due to the time-based part of the algorithm, which insures annual oil changes. There is a mileage-based component too.

So I guess you are going a few thousand miles past 0% now.

I'm riding her at 4% right now but I have an oil change scheduled tomorrow.

Without a doubt the algorithm to get an oil change is very conservative. They can't risk telling someone you have life left and then something happens.

The 6.2 holds 10qts , the 3.6 holds 5.5 qts and has a long cam chain. I won't go past 6k with my 3.6.

Yeah with mine I really don’t drive it a whole lot, so the oil life monitor just drops when I don’t drive it for a while.

Nope. It still under warranty. I still change it when the light comes on. I just *know* it's good oil after only 4,500 miles/1 yr. and three track-days.

I don't ever wait for any messages on any of my vehicles. Change my oil every 5k miles or 6 months.
