Camaro LT-1 suspension feels great!
I recently bought a 2022 Camaro LT-1, 10 speed automatic, RS package, polished aluminium wheels, dual mode exhaust. I just wanted to tell everyone, and potential buyers of the new LT-1 that the suspension feels good. I had a 2020 LT-1, and I thought the handing was ok, but could be improved. I noticed that the engineers have refined the suspension since 2020, and the car turns in and handles better with less body lean in the corners. The ride is slightly stiffer, but not by much. The ride is compliant, firm, won't beat you up at all. It's a great car everyone, and it's a bummer that GM will end production in a year of two. Good job GM engineers on the Camaro!

What did GM change from 2020 to 2022 on the LT-1 suspension?

Nothing “hardware” handling wise changed from the time the LT1 was introduced till now. One thing that may be different with your current car is the alignment. Mine was scary vague @ 30-50 mph during while turning in on ramps. It was all over the place floaty at 80+ highway or even worse at full throttle highway. I knew this had to be an alignment issue as I had two previous 6th Gen that didn’t have these issues.
My guess is your first car was like mine (before I got an alignment) and your new one is just better aligned. |

I just think the engineers have improved the tuning of the suspension over the years, and the fun factor. My allignment was good with the 2020 camaro.

Sorry, but they haven’t done anything to improve the handling…it’s the same great set up they introduced in 2016.

My vote is on placebo, too. I remember when the car used to be put away for long northeastern winters from Dec to Apr, the first drives afterwards felt almost like a new Camaro experience. Needless to say, the car had not changed the slightest bit.

Placebo is also my bet, my car for most of the summer get put away for the hotter weather and I either drive the dd, or the jeep. When I go to drive the car every 3-4 weeks to cycle the gas and make sure the battery hasnt kicked the bucket it feels like the car is driving on rails in comparison.

I kind of think my new ZL1 rides better than the 18 1LE i bought new and had up til last week, there's a little difference in the chassis between the two anyway, but I've caught myself thinking it's a tick better.

All I know is, is my 2016 Camaro SS with the non-MRC suspension handles awesome in my opinion. I couldn't imagine needing it to be much better unless you want it to be a weekend warrior on the track.

Ok... ya, based on everyone else's response... I didn't think they changed anything. Placebo effect is my vote as well.

It could be wheel alignment. It makes all the difference in the world. Like most cars they come with more negative camber in rear than front. It needs to be opposite.

It's not unusual for engineers to refine/improve a model's suspension tuning over the years... All I know is that my 2022 LT-1 feels a bit less nose heavy, turns in better, and has a bit less body lean in the corners.
I'm sure the Camaro SS (all years) handles well. I just noticed that my car feels better than the 2020 LT1 I had, that's it. |

Paul, why do you have a 2022 LT1 after having had a 2020? Not a smart arse question, just curious.
