Anyone ever ordered from multiple dealers?

Just curious…..has anyone ordered from more than one dealer with the intent to go with whichever vehicle arrives first? I placed an order last week but found another dealer near me that also honors GMS and sounds like they are a higher volume store and may be able to get car sooner. Just curious if this has been done by others?

After you hit 2000 status with an order, you should cancel your 1100 status orders that you have in at any other dealers.

I did it on my 2022 vert. My salesguy said it was OK cause their allotment was so bad being in farm country. I should go to a big city dealership. I did and when I got the car, I told them all my service would be done at the smaller dealership. Both dealers understood and I've had no problems.

At the first dealer I ordered from I currently have five people in front of me (ordered 2SS 1LE) and they currently don’t have any allocations. The dealer I ordered from today is the largest Chevy dealer in my area. I actually ordered a ZL1 at this dealer. They said they anticipated getting an allocation for a ZL1 and that I’d probably have a build date in the next two weeks. Could be blowing smoke but I figured it was worth putting in the order and just keeping whichever goes to 2200 first. Was told both deposits were refundable.

I am planning to add my name to multiple dealer waitlists. Once the first one gets accepted, I will be removing my name from other lists.

I did the same for my previous order which i did with another OEM early this year as well.

This exactly, and many people do this. Once you get an allocation and GM accepts one of the orders, cancel the rest so the next guy(s) in line can get them.

I'm very new to the whole ordering process and I wonder if maybe I should have done the same. I only placed my order this past Saturday, so I haven't been waiting long. Placed it with Jim Ellis Chevy in Atlanta.

I did however have a trade-in and went ahead and traded in my truck the day the order was created just so it didn't lose any value over the next few months while waiting. We can live on one vehicle (wife walks to work and I work from home).

I'm willing to wait a few months, but it does seem opportunistic to go ahead and put in multiple orders. I think I hosed myself by going ahead and trading in my truck though. I'm just worried about my order not being fulfilled.

Did you put deposits at each dealer?

I did an early trade when I was buying mine. But the dealership only kept $1,000 and gave me a check for the rest.

I am yet to begin my Camaro process but with the previous OEM, yes. It ranged between $0 and $2000 (refundable) to be on the waitlist.

I had to put a deposit at each dealer. Just making sure that was standard. Figured it was. I know I will get one of them back at some point.

No, I refuse to put down a deposit until an allocation is available/offered to me.

I've only been asked for a deposit once and that dealer lied about having an allocation.
