GM Emissions Testing Letter
So I got this letter the other day which states GM wants to do some emissions testing on my car. In return they will give me 500.00 and a current model rental vehicle. Anyone ever done this or know someone who has? It says it could take up to 4 weeks to test and will put about 300 miles on my car between testing and transit to the facility. 500.00 seems awfully low for a whole month and I wonder if it is a current model camaro or are they shoving me into a cruze or something lol. Also not don't like letting anyone else drive my vehicles. I am going to call them Monday but was just curious if anyone had any input.

Are they going to extend your warranty? Are they going to pick up the tab on your insurance and registration? Not worth 500 to me, they can beat the shit out of a rental car for that matter.

yeah lotta unanswered questions, I would certainly turn them down @500.00 was just curious if anyone had any experience. Don't even know if they will take my car as I do have some minor mods on it...

That ain't worth $500 to me and that is awfully low considering the down time, I'd counter offer with $750 and c8 rental all expenses covered.

Don't they have an R&D department for this kind of stuff? 500 is way to low considering the time they want it and the possibility of your car being damaged. I wouldn't even let them see the car for anything below 1000 and let me drive an equivalent SS or something better.

Yeah the only way I would even consider it would be at least 1k and a ZL1 or C8 free of charge and I get to drive my car to and from the facility.

I got that same offer a number of years ago. I don't recall if they wanted my Camaro or my Malibu at the time. I did reply that I was willing. I believe they ask a few questions about your car (perhaps mileage? I don't remember).
I get the impression that they send the letter out to people with a particular model car they need to test, then select the reply's that fit their needs. Either way, my car wasn't selected. |

I have heard of that but never seen the letter. I know your car is not a rental, but I know what I have done to rental cars. No way some GM employee is going to rag out my car for a month for $500 and a KIA rental. If I had a 2005 Malibu with 190,000 miles on it then sure for $500. I would advise them to take their time with it even.

Ah the good ole EPA being nosy again. Honestly I'd just shred that letter just because there's way to many variables that can happen to your car. Although for some giggles if I get that letter I'll take mine down there and see if they want still want to do the testing on a cammed catless E85 car.

It’s more valuable to GM to have the ability to use your car. If they don’t get participation from a private owner, will the EPA fine them $500?
They’ve left a lot of customers on their own with the A8 mess. Now they want your help? Hard pass.

No thanks. I would not want to be a voluntary pawn in their search for ICE coffin nails.
Any emissions will be too many emissions and prop up the sooner than later end of ICE cars. |

$1500 AND they give me a loaner ZL1 OR a C8 or late model C7 as a loaner and $300 gas card!
I assume if Chevy like totaled my Camaro they'd give me a brand new SS as well! |
