Strange remote start issues
I had a 2011 and 2017 Silverado that worked perfect w the remote start, phone or key every time. Never an issue.
But w the Camaro, since it was new, maybe 3 out of 10 times the fob won’t start it, but if the fob doesn’t start it then the phone will. Sometimes the phone won’t start it for some reason, but if that happens the fob always starts it lol. Clearly this isn’t that big of a deal, just wondering if it’s happened to anyone else However those times that the phone doesn’t work and I use the key, or the key doesn’t work and I use the phone, I get in to a check engine light that goes away instantly. |

Mine will also not start it maybe 15% of the time, I haven't noticed a pattern as to what causes it though..
edit: how do you start it with your phone? I remember downloading the mychevrolet app but I don't remember being able to start my car with my phone

Apple Watch app too which is cool if you use that Haven’t noticed any pattern as when mine decides not to start either. Completely random. But there is a check engine light for a brief second when I get in after that happens, and I always hear the exhaust valves open but it won’t start, it’s getting the command |

GM has changed the program for the remote start feature through the app... You used to get five years of that one service without charge so long as you used the app to do -something- (lock the doors, start the car, etc.) during the OnStar free period. Now, you only have access during the OnStar trial period.
As far as the remote start feature being wonky, I'm putting my money 100% on the communications between the fob and the car. For me, the issue is that it's basically impossible to put the convertible top all of the way down using the fob on the first try unless you are standing right next to the car. And, even then, there's a 50/50 shot it won't go all the way down. |

I have this same exact issue on my 2020 LT1. I do not use MyLink. I only use my key fob.
Two things I have noticed that help. 1. Hit the lock button, then wait about one second before holding the remote start button. I noticed that if I hit the start button too soon after hitting the lock button, the car wont start. Count "one, one thousand" between hitting the buttons. 2. If the car is unresponsive from the start button, but you see the lights flash when you hit the lock button, then hit the unlock button, then lock again. Wait two seconds, hit lock, "one, one thousand", then hold remote start. I noticed that unlocking the car seems to reset the sequence and makes the BCM happy again. I can only imagine that this is a programming issue from when the engineers at GM wrote the logic in the BCM. I hope this helps. I thought the issue was isolated to my car until I noticed that the unlock sequence tends to fix it. Brandan |

1LE is M6 so not an option, but never used it on previous 6th gen Camaros (2SS/A8); however, it should be the same as the Silverado and other GM's with remote start. Have to hit the lock button and then the remote start & it will fire up. Works 100%, but then the infotainment/BCM system is better in the truck, Camaros' is glitchy as hell. I canned OnStar so I can't do it via smartphone.

Nancygrl,
The 2020 Camaros are based on the GM Global B architecture, which is significantly different than the previous year Camaros (I believe 2019s are Global B also). We are doing the remote start sequence correct; the issue is that there is likely a bug in the software that doesn't allow the car to start. Brandan |

damn yeah same symptoms as mine guys, as for the issue I dont think it has to do with communications, if youre near the car you hear it act like its about to start, doors lock, exhaust valves open, but then it doesn't attempt to start.
I was maybe gonna mention it next service as its all under warranty but if its this widespread and clearly its not that big of a deal, imma just live with it |

A frustrating combination of software birth pains & corporate BS foisted on developers. The good news, though, is that it can probably be fixed via an OTA update in the new architecture.

They'd have to actually fix it, first. Then the patch can be applied via OTA...

Somebody here suggested unlocking car first before remote starting it. Supposedly unlocking the car first helps waking up all the systems in the car. I always follow this sequence unlock button > lock button > hold down remote start button. I never have any problems.

Thread revived, it did it again this time but wouldn’t start with phone or app, got in to a check engine light that won’t go away, code P0454? Remote start related?
