Kudos to Chevy on the slight sales bump, but its not nearly enough given how much stock there is sitting in place.

Additionally, if you factor in Canadian sales, the Mustang outsold the Camaro in September. Canadian Mustang sales were double that of the Camaro, and well over triple YTD thus far (6820 Mustangs vs 2014 Camaros).

Ford has been ramping down production the past few months. Looking at current dealer stock numbers, there is still a gigantic inventory difference. There are 29,481 new Camaro's sitting in dealerships. That's almost a 4 and a half month supply. Not good for Chevy.

Ford has 13,470 Mustangs currently on dealer lots. That's just over a 2 month supply at current sale rates.

5th gen Camaro refresh was 2014 MY...

So "rumors" of a possible Mustang refresh sent Mustang sales from all-time highs into a major free-fall over the last few months???...I doubt it. There's got to be more to it than that...

Instead of Mustang customers waiting for a refresh, I think they are just saving up a little more money to buy a Camaro 1LE or ZL1...lol...

When you increase the price by 6K over Gen5 models and have a significant price disparity between the Camaro and Mustang this is what happens. The price is too HIGH!!!

This ^^^

Really nothing else to it. Chevy offered enough incentives to make people think the price was fair and they bought the car.

That appears not to be a fact.
There is lots of discussion on Mustang6G about the GT350 with the Voodoo continuing at least to the 2020 model year. And Ford is not going to wait that long to answer the ZL1 with a GT500 nor the Hellcat with a GT500KR, and possibly a Mach1 for the 1LE.

Ford Performance has committed another 2 years of Ford GT production and racing for IMSA and FIA, and after taking the IMSA GS Championship while upgrading the GT350R-C to GT4 standards for IMSA, FIA, and PWC for the next few years, the GT350 and Voodoo are not going anywhere soon.

Expect GT350R refreshes and performance upgrades while we wait for a GT4 homolgated Z28 or Corvette.

Now I can buy a Camaro and tell everyone that it outsells the Mustang.

Phew! I was getting concerned that having the better performance of the Camaro wasn't going to be enough to overcome the stigma of less sales volumes, but now...now it's ok.

Lol

Does anyone actually talk/brag about this crap in real life?

"Yeah you smoked me but my car is leading in sales" seriously? I'd probably call them a douche and walk away.

I've never cared about sales as long as it stays in production. I was actually annoyed with the popularity of my 2010.

Never really understood the comfort in the sales argument. But I guess when that's all you have that's all you have.

People can say what they want about the back and forth. Both sides have cronies who push it. But the sales argument was invented/pushed heavily starting in the dark ages of the 4.6 era in the Furd camp. Fact.
