Haha yea they're pricey, but the great thing about the mark II is its a fairly old model so there's lots of great deals on slightly used ones if you know where to look. Still had to convince my wife it was a good "investment" though... Hope it proves to be

Thank you, I set up my camera on a tripod and used a remote trigger to take several shots at different exposures and with an off camera strobe helping to light up the dark side of the car and wheels. Then I used photoshop to lay all the images on top of each other and let the parts show through that I wanted to brighten up or make a little darker. I think the sharpness comes from the right contrast that's achieved with that kind of post processing, but sometimes I will also apply a sharpen mask to clear it up a bit.
