Think I'll get a catch can after seeing my intake

I had my throttle body off today and found oil on the back of the TB and in the intake manifold. You can see a drop hanging off the PCV tube and a line on the side of that runner and everything looks shiny. I was on the fence about a catch can but I think this pushed me to add that extra security because of the valve deposit issues reported on some direct injection engines.

For the v6 guys we should hopefully get some photos for all this soon.

I should be hitting a dyno in the next couple weeks to check out the throttle body and the manifold at a dyno.

Almost have 1500 miles on the stock system to see a bit more about how much more is needed regarding a catch can.

Definitely interested to see this too. I'm at 2,800 miles in my pics above

I had a good amount of oil in mine at 80 miles...

I installed an Elite can the minute I saw the inside of my manifold...

Kind regards,

i installed the Mishimoto. Install very straight forward! Couldn't be happier with the OEM style look. $175 for a $50k car... looking like a pretty good investment!

That's crazy lol. I didn't have any oil on my TB nor intake lol. At least the amounts you guys are seeing isn't terrible, it'll always be shiny (thank DI engines for that) but shouldn't see any DRIPS in there.

Mine is, and always has been, bone dry too. DI has nothing to do with the "shiny" you mention though, that is due to crankcase gases in a closed-system.

Threads like this don't scare me at all. Because little oil like the one in these picture aren't doing anything yet. Its going to take time and many miles to see real harm to the engine. So if you plan on keeping your camaro long term or put a lot of miles on it. Maybe then think about adding a catch can. But even at that point show me a picture of a high mileage LT1 and a high mileage LT1 with a catch can. When you do post it on the vette forums also, because we have been waiting to see them also.

I checked mine and found no oil at 8k miles.

You won't see the difference without looking directly at the valves until the engine starts to misfire and you have to pull the heads to fix it. Photo of a DPI engine without the catch can. Cheap insurance.
