New BMW M3/M4 uglier, slower, and heavier than 6th Gen Camaro

Yikes. No lap times yet, but it doesn't look promising.

A 155-mph governor is standard, but it can be raised to 180 mph (in case speed limits are ever lifted). The sprint from zero to 60 mph takes a claimed 4.1 seconds in the regular models and drops to 3.8 seconds in the Competition models. The M3 will set you back $70,895, and the M4 starts at $72,795, with the Competition package offered at a modest extra $2900. They will be launched in March 2021, and the xDrive all-wheel-drive Competition models will come next summer.

It will be faster than the last generation F80/F82 at least. And you can make decent extra power from just a tune. If you don't benchmark it against the Camaro, it is a very, very good performance car.

Any aftermarket company that can make a revised front fascia will make a killing. The front end is universally despised even before the reveal and they plowed ahead with it anyway.

My favorite part is knowing that the industrial engineers and designers from Body Glove apparently found a new home at BMW's interior design department.

Aside from the M2, BMW lost their way years ago, nothing here surprises me.

That front end is hideous. I hope it's a sales flop, BMW deserves it. They've been building junk for 20 years now - their reliability is garbage and repairs are more than the car's worth after 5 years. BMW is no longer what they used to be - truly the Ultimate Driving Machine. Now they're just a big money waste.

If you look under the hood of any new BMW, 80% of the engine components are plastic. Hoses, housings, clamps, brackets, retainers, spark plug clips, fuel injector retainers, water pumps....... all plastic!!! Which dries out and get brittle over time due to heat and age!!

All car companies use some plastic in their engines but BMW uses it so much more, and on crucial components.

Turbo= easy tuning mods/power gains, good at high elevation.

But yeah, they are pricey and ugly. So ugly that the blackwing caddys might actually sell.

They have always been over rated. Propped up by Americans. Started off as a hyped ad campaign in the 70s. Americans bought into as a boutique car. Before that they were like Chevys in Europe. Gullible Americans bought into the fad hook line and sinker and just made BMW richer and then they focused and improved on luxury and performance backed by the American dollar.
Can you really imagine people slobbering over these cars?...

The front end is definitely different and not that hideous to me. My idea is if you are going to spend that much on a new one then just buy a new ZL1 and call it done!

Uh, no....used to like beemers but they've been getting worse and worse imho. For that kind of $$ you could get a ZL1 or a C8

I don't really care how fast the new M3 is, I wonder if BMW has tried to return to their roots with great driving feel. I owned a 128i for 9 years before getting the Camaro. I really enjoyed that car for the feel. When i needed to replace it, the Head2Head of the 2016 SS vs the M4 left an impression on me. In that review, the Camaro was praised over the M4 for the qualities BMW's usually have.
