AWE Exhaust

I picked up an AWE Touring Edition Axle-back from RDP Motorsports last week.
Today I got a local shop (RJ's Automotive) to do the install.

It sounds AWE-SOME.

I got the black chrome tips. They looks really good in person. I tried taking pics but they really don't do them justice.

Now I need to find a home for the stock exhaust. Takes up too much space in my garage. Is there a market for these?

I got the full AWE catback for my ZLE, have the same problem with the factory exhaust. I was just going to cut it up and take it to the metal scrap recycler...I don't think anyone wants them otherwise.

Glad you like it. I have the full cat-back w/link pipes and love it. My stock exhaust was the non-NPP so only 2 tips but I do wish I had gotten black now instead of the polished chrome. They get dirty quick, easy enough to clean with a little Brasso but still.

I let the shop keep mine. Doubt there's a use for it.

Did you leave your NPP actuators installed? I'm getting a new system next week and didn't know if it will throw an engine code if I remove them.

No codes will be thrown when removing NPP valves. AFM valves are a different story.

Update - today I got to cold start the car for the 1st time in my garage.
Holy Cow what a difference. Luckily I go to work around 8:30am so my neighbors are already up.

Took a few more pics today after washing the car. It's still hard to get a decent pic of black chrome.

The last pic is what I have sitting in my garage now. Maybe someone will want to buy it...

Was it RJ's of Sterling you used? Were you happy with the install / reasonable cost?!
Looks fantastic and thinking of going this route for axle-back myself, but weighing up DIY vs shop install, and Stirling is just up the road!

Thanks,
Alex

Yes. RJ’s of Sterling. I was happy with everything. They knew what they were doing and did an excellent job. I dropped it off at 8am and they called me at 12 all complete. Cost was about 2 hours of labor. If you can DIY it you might want to go that route and save some $$. But I don’t have that option.
RJ’s is a family shop and after this experience I plan to use them for other work down the road.

Appreciate the response. I'll look to give them a call once I'm closer to D-Day as I'm not 100% confident on DIY...

I wouldn't sweat doing it yourself. I did the full Touring/resonated catback plus the secondary cat delete link pipes myself on my garage floor and it was actually pretty easy.

Did you run into anything tricky doing it yourself or need any specific tools? My biggest concern is cutting the pipes (I've got a Dremel multi max tool but wonder if that will do the job with a good metal cutting blade). I'd really like to avoid cuts altogether and to go the 2nd cat delete route with the link pipes but just not sure the car will pass local emissions.
I'm not afraid to spanner since I do my own oil and diff fluid changes, but the exhaust is a little different to anything I've tackled before.

May just have to watch a few more you tube videos to get confidence!
