Launch Control is fun + 0-60

yep...it's fun, real fun.

The initial rev gets the attention of surrounding vehicles and then, off you go....

Sadly the best I have gotten is 5.7 0-60 (in about a dozen attempts), but this is at 6200 feet (probably a DA correction of 1.25), but that's with lifting to shift and not at all pushing it to redline in first, probably 5K to 5.5K-ish (i'll have to actually look at the video to be sure).

I should try no lift and a 6000RPM shift.

What should I be aiming for at 6200' altitude?

What about clutch release...dump it or what? I am a bit timid with the clutch, although fast enough that the wheels are spinning just a tad off the line, I mean, like half a second to a second or so (this is in RACE mode).

My best results have been with releasing the clutch slower about half way and then dump it the rest of the way. If I just dump the clutch, the tires spin a bit too much.

Aside from the fact that it sounds like the world's loudest fart—no lift shift is awesome... like going from ludicrous speed to plaid!

Mid to high 5's was the best I could get with an A8 at 5500 ft. Now that it's supercharged I get sub 2 second ( really just wheelspin ).

Hmmm, well ok then I don't feel to bad with 5.7 on a M6 at 6200 feet, I think I should be able to get it down another half second or so.

Isn't it more fun to figure it out by using it?

Easily. You should still be able to get in the 4's at altitude. You will need a warm day though.

But back to topic, My one try with using the launch control was not good lol. When I launched it spun my tires up to 4500 before it cut power. I probably should experiment with it some more tho and see if I can figure it out better.

Don't feel too bad at all. I have had my M6 SS for 20 months/12,000 miles and I can't get under 4.9 to 60MPH in Denver no matter how perfect a launch, and I can launch it perfectly, no bogdown and very minimal wheel-spin. And where in the Denver area are you, at 6200feet, so I can be on the look out for a 1LE?

This was after about a dozen attempts with my A8 vert. I have tried launch is Sport and Track. Top up and top down. Can't find the sweet spot. Also get so excited to execute there have been at least a half dozen times I forgot to start the timer!!!

Thanks, I'll keep trying, I'd be content with 4.9.

I'm in Parker, but work downtown denver, My launches are in Parker though; a lot of open roads here.

I tried a no lift shift yesterday and I don't think this car has that feature (i know been debated to death), but when I tried it, RPM jumped and car lurched pretty bad, so I don't think I'll try that again.

Yeah, that's too much spin I think . I have let the clutch out fairly slow (IMO?) enough to only spin maybe a single rotation or so, not much at all. I would think this would be a good launch, but the numbers aren't there, so....
