Rev match and throttle after idle
Searched and didn't see anything on this topic, but has anyone else noticed some odd throttle control? For instance, if I am coming up to a stop sign with rev match turned on, I sometimes see and hear the engine rev up to 2-2.5k RPM, hold for a second or two, then drop back down to idle as usual. I'm thinking this has something to do with shifting right where rev match is supposed to cut out (10 MPH), but haven't been able to reproduce on command.
Also rarely get a similar phenomenon if I rev right after starting the car. Blip the gas a few seconds after starting (rev match off, neutral, park brake on), and instead of revving a little then going back to idle as expected it goes up to 2-2.5k RPM, holds there for a second or two, then drops back down to idle. I cycled the ignition and the issue went away. The same blip after the ignition cycle didn't even get up to 1750 RPM.

yea. i have had some weird stuff happen with me as well. especially drivin round town in memphis traffic. one thing that gets me is it will blip the throttle on an upshift. say i start off at a stop in first, shift to second then go to shift to third it will blip the throttle like im bout to try to shift to first, or shift from third to fourth and it will blip like i want to go to second. weird. i never have it on. maybe if i tracked it, but never for congested stop and go traffic.

Sounds like it's just part of the tune to me with the rev thing. I have an A8 but I was slowing down for a light the other day and had put it in neutral to rev it but the rpm's stuck in the 2k's on the way down and didn't drop back down until I put it back in gear. Another day I was going much faster and did it and it dropped back down to idle just fine

I have some issues as well.
Not sure if a shift gate switch is bad or if its the programming. The blip is supposed to speed up one transmission shaft to make it easier on the syncros to engage the lower gear. Works great on 6to 5 and 5 to 4 shift. But on the important 4 to 3 shift, it blips AFTER its in gear. Thats bad. Anybody else notice this?

Every once in a while mine will blip when i push in the clutch and haven't touched the shifter. Just a small blip and settles right back down. If it was a 2500 rpm blip for a few seconds I would mind that.
If you have rev match on and you drop gears and don't release the clutch rev match will continue to match rpms with speed for the given gear til you release the clutch or stop. Maybe this is whats happening? |

second to first down shift sometimes hold the rpms at 2k and if you let off the clutch the car severely jerks forward. I usually have to wait until it gets back to idle before i can release the clutch. Other than that i love the active rev match

Mine has never done that. I would have the dealer check that out. It seems like a lot of people get their computers re-flashed or updated software when these things happen. You may benefit from that.

Haven't had any major issues driving around Memphis in mine. I've had the blip you mention with the clutch in before. Doesn't happen all the time but when it does, it's when I'm slowing down. I've associated it with rev match trying to match the speed to the gear I'm in with what it thinks I need to go to. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
