Replacement for 1LE Rear End Spoiler

Dear GM Team and Forum members,

I live in Germany and own a Canadian Facelift 2019 2SS 1LE. During a ceramic coating in the burning process the rear spoiler got a damage because it was to hot and got a dent and the company needs to replace the spoiler.

The problem I have is the availability with dealers in Germany because a 1LE model was never sold in Germany. This means I have very big problems to find the correct replacement number for it.

My VIN is 1G1FG1R75K0154937

I could find different numbers in the www with different colour codes and of course I would like to have the same one I have factory mounted.

I hope somebody can help me with this request I would highly appreciate this.

Thanks you very much

Peter

Hey Peter, what color is that spoiler? IIRC the 1LE comes with a matte black spoiler regardless of your paint color, but 1LE owners can confirm it for you.

Only dealership employees can look up exact part numbers based on your VIN, us "ordinary folks" don't have access to that system. There are several members who are, hopefully they will be able to run a matching parts search for a Canada (export) VIN.

Thank you very much. I believe my actually spoilter is satin black like the original 1LE. I could see now you can order at GM 1LE Spec spoiler in matching color to the vehicle paint but I'm looking for the satin one I have originally mounted.

Maybe I have luck and somebody in this forum with access to the GM System can help to find out the correct number.

Thanks

Peter

Okay, let me bump the thread again just in case These helpful guys frequent the new order status thread, and you probably have a better chance anywhere else, since the section you posted in ("Ask the Camaro Team") has been dormant since late 2018, early 2019 when the Camaro team was disbanded (and, presumably, gm decided to axe the Camaro for good).

In all honesty, if I had a 1LE, I would tear off the hood wrap and get a spoiler in my paint color, IMO the car looks so much better that way... but then again, this might render me unworthy of a true 1LE

Hey mate. Thanks a lot for your support

I have already removed the hood warp based on the ceramic coating and the quality around the corners was a nightmare. Looks like the technician had some Jack Daniels to much

I didn't know there was a "burn in" process for ceramic coating? I don't believe they did that to my car when I had it ceramic coated... Is that just for specific ceramic products?

Haha, yours may be a Friday car then I have a Monday car and it had more small imperfections than my previous 6th gen, so who knows... no matter how silly this is, it still feels good to speculate with data that has absolutely no statistical relevance

BTW, as far as I know, the hood wrap is applied by a third party at a different station once the car is assembled, so it's their fault. You got rid of it anyway.

Technically, it isn't "burning in", just applying some heat so the ceramic cures quicker, thus the customer can pick the car up sooner. The heating lamp must've been placed a tad too close to the spoiler in this case.

I'm not sure how easy it would be to obtain a true satin black 1LE spoiler as opposed to an accessory item that is painted to the car's color. It'd be lovely is someone from a service department could chime in.

Hey mate.

Indeed there are ceramic coatings you can just apply and its done. The coating I have a little bit more as a ceramic coating and official it is called Nano-Titanium Glass coating. It generate a glass skin that is extremely hard over the paint and the process is only allowed by trained experts. With an Uni black car scratches are normally after every wash also if you are extremely careful with handwash and that was the reason I looked for something to avoid this and found it in Modesta BC-04 from Japan. Of course it is very expensive but really amazing. I have it now for a year and no wash scratches anymore. It looks like fresh polished.

The company’s showed me before that material. They put it in a mold and apply heat like the burning in process. That was so amazing to me. It feels hard like a Diamant. They also showed me the sponge they used after the process. It is hart like a stone.

That was basically the reason for me to go with this coating and i was never disappointed about.

The wheels got BC-06 and never need a wheel cleaner again. Also with the aggressive dust from the 1LE brake. Just normal wash water like the car. Nothing burn in.

Cheers

Peter

Very interesting info, I remembered this product from some years ago, but didn't think it was actually cured under very high temps.

BTW the descriptions I found on the net indicate 70 °C (158 °F), which isn't particularly high, I didn't know that could melt the plastic the spoiler is made of.
